Born in 1950, at Neyyatinkara,Thiruvananthapuram, to K. Velayudhan Pillai and N. Gourikutty Amma. he appeared in media only during the eighties. Breakthrough into the world of poetry happened with the publication of the poem Naranathu Bhranthan in 1986.

Prof. Madhusoodanan Nair's achievements are

Kunju Pillai Kavitha Award for Poetry in 1986, for 'Naranathu Bhranthan'.

Kerala Sahitya Academy Award in 1993, for his collection of poems titled 'Naranathu Bhranthan'.

K.Balakrishnan Award in 1991, for 'Bharatheeyam'.
